Hybrid Supreme Filter Troubleshooting — Common Problems & Solutions

Something wrong with your filter? No worries. Most problems have a simple cause and an even simpler solution. Here you'll find the most frequently asked questions about drafts, blockages, odors, and storage. Answered directly.

The filter in my hand-rolled joint isn't drawing well — what should I do?

Usually a combination of several factors:

  • 👉🏼 Filter installed backwards. The Hybrid Supreme filter has a mouth-side. Rule of thumb: the hole should face your mouth. If it's installed incorrectly, the airflow will be noticeably reduced.
  • 👉🏼 The filter protrudes from the paper. If it's not completely rolled up, you'll draw in air.
  • 👉🏼 Joint rolled too tight. The mix needs room to breathe.
  • 👉🏼 Grinder used for too long. Ground material that is too fine compacts in the joint and blocks the airflow.

My activated carbon filter gets clogged after just 1-2 puffs in cold weather.

This has a physical reason: Warm breathing air (approx. 37°C) hits the ice-cold filter — condensation immediately forms in the pores of the activated carbon and blocks the airflow.

  • 👉🏼 Warm the filter briefly in your hand or jacket pocket before rolling.
  • 👉🏼 Roll the joint shorter and looser.
  • 👉🏼 Gentle pulls instead of strong suction — pressure accelerates condensation.

Hybrid Supreme filters are significantly more cold-resistant than pure activated carbon filters due to their plant-based fiber caps. The fiber layer traps condensation before it reaches the activated carbon.

Why activated carbon filters clog in cold weather — and what makes hybrid technology different .

My used activated carbon filter smells and tastes unpleasant.

Almost always a sign of a fully saturated filter.
Activated carbon stores tar and pollutants — if its capacity is exhausted and you continue to smoke, it will smell and taste strongly of a "cold ashtray".

Activated carbon filters for joints are disposable products: use a fresh one for each session.

What exactly an activated carbon filter filters and how it works: What are activated carbon filters — and how do they work?

I feel like the filter is making my joint weaker — is it filtering out THC or CBD?

No — that has been disproven.
THC and CBD are not particulate pollutants and are not physically adsorbed by activated carbon. The full effect is retained.

Those who perceive the high as "clearer": This is due to less carbon monoxide being inhaled — not less THC.

Do Hybrid Filters remove THC and CBD active ingredients?

How to roll right with Hybrid Filter

Watch it once, never roll it wrong again.

01
Flow-Tip facing you
The small hole in the filter points toward you — that's how the draw works properly.
02
Filter fully inside the paper
Don't let it stick out — otherwise you'll pull side air.
03
Roll evenly
Firm but loose — no "sausage-feeling", so the airflow stays free.
04
Draw test before lighting
Take one dry pull. If it whistles, adjust the filter slightly.
